tbone13
Greetings - it looks like Honda has made the iPod Honda Music Link available for the '06 Accord. The parts can be purchased at http://www.hondapartsdeals.com/. Has anyone seen or read much about these? I can't find much info about them online... Thanks
Bobby
Hey i have a question --do u know if that allows the songs to show up on the stereo screen, or do u have to look at your ipod? If u can see the songs on the screen thats a really great price seeing as where i paid over $350.00 so I could use my ipod in my 98 accord. I'll try to look into them. seattle2006accord
hey, I saw another post on this and here's what I said: The Honda Music Link for iPod is an option. I've been researching this as I just picked up a 2006 Honda Accord EX-L with Navi. I found these to PDFs which were helpful in 1. Seeing how it is installed: http://www.anythinghondaonline.com/Product...df/accord24.pdf 2. Seeing how it works: http://www.anythinghondaonline.com/Product...0-%20Accord.pdf From here: http://www.anythinghondaonline.com/index.a...ROD&ProdID=1125 Personally, I am less than impressed with it. Especially considering the Navi would make an awesome interface for browsing artists/albums/playlists etc. They have the opportunity to make something killer like the pioneer or other systems that let you browse. The whole adding playlists for the speech feedback is a bad idea. i have a ton of artists and I'm pretty sure the system would create about 100,000 playlists, not cool... So, my next question is this: Does anyone know if my navi system will support an AUX connection that I could feed my iPod into? I think I'd rather use the iPod interface than fight my way through the Honda Music Link system. OR, I'd love to hear if someone knows a better solution. LMarie
I found a very informative review of the Honda ipod link. It's certainly not flattering. http://www.nuxx.net/hondamusiclink.html LMarie

jnosacka
I have the Honda Music Link and find it very annoying that with a great piece of technology like the Ipod Video, I have no visual interface once I hook it up to my car. To find playlists or albums, I'm having to disconnect, use the ipod controls to find something, then reconnect so that it starts playing from that point. Has anyone heard or know how to alter this device to allow being able to at least have the display on the ipod continue to work?
vincentv7927
I have the same problem, i got a brand new accord. I just got it installed today. I have no control of my ipod. everything is completly random or playing straight through a-z. I hate it. then i tried installing that cd rom, and now i have stupid voice commands that shuffles through my songs. I seriously want my money back. i guess this is soo new that not alot of people have experienced this yet. but mark my words....you will hate it! billpoly
I just picked up a new 2006 Accord EX-L without Navigation and was looking forward to getting the iPod Link installed. I couldn't be more disappointed. This is quite possibly the most poorly designed piece of technology that I have come across for the iPod. It take the simple, elegant interface of the iPod, completely turns it off, and leaves you to follow hard to understand text-to-speech voice cues to find content. It literally took me 15 minutes to find a podcast today. Horrible!

Once connected to the iPod Link, your iPod will lock and show a checkmark on the screen. The text display on the head unit doesn't show anything except a cryptic representation of the disc/track information based on the selection mode you're using with the iPod Link. So, basically, you have no information about what is playing either on the head unit or your iPod. I've also not found a way to FF or RW tracks on the iPod using the iPod Link. As for pausing, you can either disconnect the iPod or turn off the audio head unit. Bad product. I'm already looking for a replacement.

Trihonda
Anyone find other options. nguyenpd's options sounds fantastic. nguyenpd, with these items installed, will I be able to control the iPod from my OEM stereo and steering wheel buttons?? I just bought a Music Link and am trying to cancel the order as we speak. How did these items connect to allow this to happen. From what I can see of the $100 adapter, it has RCA inputs. and the Ipod adapter seems to have a USB and 1/4" jack adapter. What else did you need? THanks also, I have an 06 Accord EX with the standard 6-disc head unit. It says its XM ready (but I don't have XM), but does that mean I need the second adapter nguyenpd linked us to, or will the first one (he used) work for me? how much is the music link for the honda? if its more than 130 i wouldnt buy it if i were you. Here is what i got for my accord: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/sounsnhond3.html and http://microcenter.com/single_product_resu...duct_id=0204853 it sounds better than anything ive seen around. you can also control everything from your ipod. if you want pictures on what it looks like...i can post some pictures of how to install it

Trihonda
Old thread. Hmmmm, at least I searched for threads on my topic and didn't just start a new one. And, there is information in this thread I would love clarification on since it is pertinent to my question.
Trihonda
Well, I did some research of my own and found this product as well: http://www.mp3yourcar.com/ There's a neeto 4 min video on the above page that actually talks about the product and then demos an actual install in an S2000. It seems like it has received good reviews (depending on what car it's installed in). Its compatible with the new Hondas from what I can tell. However, at $199, its a pricey option. I would not use anything (for $200) that didn't have a track record. Has anyone else used this product? I also found this product... It seems to be the same concept, but much cheaper (at $130+): http://www.icarkits.com/ Both this and the above product claim the ability to control your ipod while it charges, etc... Just like the Music Link. On a side note, I got the dealer who sold me the music link to cancel the order prior to it being shipped.
