Gear shifting Auto

I would like to know if my Honda’s gear switching is normal. It is an automatic 92 accord dx.

 

I continue to hold a steady pace on the gas pedal. The RPM will go as high as 3k until it switches to 2nd gear and slightly higher for 3rd and 4th.

 

Every time it shifts it kicks a little.

 

Now if I press the gas pedal and take it up to 2.5k rpm and release the gas, it will shift to second. Again it shifts with a little kick, basically you can feel the car jerk. I do the same for each gear to avoid such high rpms.

 

Is this normal automatic shifting? Or something wrong with transmission.?

I use to have a civic that did that. first it sounds like its shifting at the right time to me but hey im still a noob at this too but the jump is what my civic did. i think its just something with the tranny im sure someone else on the forum will give u more insight though. sorry

so basically it feels to me like high rpms and late shifts

Does it also vibrate at idle? If so, I would check your motor/tranny mounts. That will cause the rough idle and can also cause a harder shift. Mine is doing the same thing but I haven't gotten around to changing them yet.

mine does the same thing, kicks when it shifts, but if I'm accelerating normal/moderately slow, then it shifts around 2k-2.5k

yeah its prob the motor mounts or do a transmission flush?
