DJCruzeiro
I wonder if anyone can help answer my query. I am a big fan of Preludes and have owned several over the past few years and during those years I have acquired the skills to maintain and fix my preludes with basic expertise. I would like to enter the next phase and get down to the real nitty gritty and do an engine swap. I currently own a Honda Prelude Gen 4 1994 reg. It is a meager 2 litre with a F22A1 spec engine. I would like to boost the car by chucking out the old one and inserting an H22A engine from a Gen 5 VTEC. First question, is this possible with the vehicle's current bay structure or do I have customize it in order to accomodate the new engine? Second question, providing I do not get put off by the response to the first question, what other components and parts must be changed in order to get the best out of the new engine? I know that buying the 5th gen would be cheaper but I am not concerned about that. I just want to play!!!!! Thanks in advance for your answers. Marcus. cranny
im almost positive you can bolt the H22 in place with no extras. use your axles , existing mounts , and wiring. only thing you have to do is get an ecu , which will most likely come with the swap. and wire a few extra wires in for vtec and IAB's(depending on what ecu you plan on using). Awesome Cranny! You responded so quickly, I was expecting to wait a couple of days before i got a response. I plan to dump the engine in using all the VTEC bits. I will be replacing the header to accomodate the new engine. I am not very good at welding or being creative when it comes to metal so the most important aspect was indeed the mounts within the bay. Thanks for the info Cranny. Now to find that covetted engine!!!!!

DJCruzeiro
Right Guys, Here Goes!!! I have just bought myself a 98 2.2 VTEC Type S block and it arrives tomorrow. I have booked a week off work in order to start the swap out. I am hoping that I won't need a whole week but it is better to be safe, besides, I will spend plenty of time driving this baby once the project is complete. Pre project info. At this stage I am going to use the block and ECU only, all other parts are from the original F22 spec. I appreciate that this is not the best configuration and this will result in not getting the best out of the engine but this project is ongoing. Stage 1 - Engine swap Stage 2 - Transmission upgrade Stage 3 - Cam sprockets and timing belt upgrade Stage 4 - Header and exhaust system upgrade Stage 5 - Complete suspension swap out I will get back with pics and progress. See ya!!!!!!
