matase
Is it normal for a 2003 accord 4 cylinder to idle high at around 1500-1700 until the engine warms up? When it heats up, the rpms drop to 800 and it seems normal after that. But my problem or not? is, when the rpms are high like that when the engine is cold, when I am driving, I need to apply the brakes more because the car rolls faster. Is it considered a problem? Xeryon
Normal. Car idles higher in cold weather to prevent stalling until the engine reaches a nominal operating temperature. You would not notice this in the summer as the ambient air temperature (thus the temperature of the engine) is already higher then the nominal operating threshold when you first start the car. matase
okey just wanted to make sure. It has not been that cold yet but I guess cold enough for the engine to do that.
