tcodex102
Hello, So I went to go look at a car and the seller mentioned that, the EGR Valve was replaced but was not cleaned out. He mentioned that some kind of carbon buildup is there. The Check Engine Light came on on earlier this year (2015). He mentioned that it will cost about $1500 to replace and clean and what not. Is that an accurate price to replace/clean out the carbon build up? Or could I possibly it my self (not a car guy by any means but there is youtube videos howto).? If I could do it myself, how much time will it take to unscrew, clean and put back together? I am thinking about buying this car but want to know if its possible I can do it myself and save the money of taking it to a mechanic. The asking price was $2000 but I lowered it to $1800. Is it worth the purchase? Or will it be much of hassle to fix it up? Thanks if you can help.
Humphries
that's a lot. you just remove the egr pipe and tube. clean out with pipe cleaner and solvent. maybe you got a big estimate for a bunch of other recommended maintenance.
